Canva Brush: new AI that edits your finished designs without breaking the rest, but only in Canva Pro
A week after the Craft image model, Canva has released Brush, its own AI model for editing designs you have already made. It can change a colour scheme, update headings on every page of a deck or turn a slide into an Instagram post. Brush is available to Canva Pro from 29 October, with more users to follow.
On 29 October 2026 Canva launched Brush, an AI model built by Canva’s own research lab to edit designs. Craft, which arrived the week before, creates new images. Brush handles the next step: it reads your finished design, understands how it is put together and makes the changes you ask for, from a single line of text to every slide in a deck.
The hard part of letting AI edit a design is stopping it from changing things you did not ask for. According to Canva, Brush works in rounds: it makes a change, looks at the result and corrects itself before it finishes. Everything it does stays editable in Canva as usual, so you can take over by hand whenever you like.
Canva says Brush is up to 69 percent faster and 46 percent cheaper per edit than its previous design agent, and that quality was as good or better in most of Canva’s own tests. These are Canva’s own figures and there is no independent comparison yet. Brush is built on an open AI model that Canva trained further, partly with anonymised data from users who chose to share it.
Who gets it? Brush is available from launch on Canva Pro and is used for supported edits in Canva AI. Canva says it will reach more users soon but gives no date. Brush has no separate price and is included in Canva Pro, so check the current price on Canva’s pricing page. Support for Brand Kit, for referring to attached files and for very image-heavy layouts is still missing. Canva is working on it.
Good to know: ask for one change at a time and say clearly what must not change, such as your logo, prices and contact details. Check every page afterwards, especially special characters, prices and dates, before you publish or print. Our new prompt Edit a finished design without breaking it in the Prompt Workshop helps you word the change.
How to get started
- Open a design you already have in Canva, or attach or link the design in Canva AI.
- Select Brush in the dropdown menu in Canva AI, so that Brush makes the change.
- Describe one change at a time, for example: switch to autumn colours on all pages but do not touch the logo or the prices.
- Check every page and fix anything that went wrong by hand before you publish.
