Claude Duet: Anthropic's new AI agent gets in touch on its own – but only in the US for now

Anthropic has opened a test version of Claude Duet, an app where Claude keeps an eye on your connected apps, sends a short summary every morning and handles tasks while you do other things. It always asks before it sends, pays for or deletes anything. Right now it is only available via a waitlist for Pro and Max customers in the US.

On 21 October 2026 Anthropic, the company behind the chatbot Claude, opened a test version (a so-called research preview) of Claude Duet. It is a separate app for iPhone and Android, and it is also on claude.ai. The difference from a normal chat is that Duet comes to you first. Every morning it sends a short summary of the most important things in your connected apps, such as email, calendar and Slack. During the day it only gets in touch when something needs you.

You can also give Duet tasks, from scheduling meetings to producing a sales forecast or building a simple web page. It has its own computer in the cloud with its own browser, so it can keep working even when your phone and computer are switched off. Duet is built on Anthropic's Claude Opus 5.5 model and brings along the memory, skills and connected apps from your Claude account. According to Anthropic it can use more than 6,000 connectors in the Claude Marketplace, including Gmail, Slack, Stripe, Shopify, Canva and Docusign.

Safety is the most important part to understand. Before Duet sends a message, makes a payment, signs a document or deletes anything, it shows you exactly what it is about to do and waits for your approval. Some things it may never do, even with permission, such as trading securities or moving money between accounts. It is also designed to refuse to share card numbers and ID documents. Purchases go through Stripe's digital wallet Link and a virtual card, so your real card number is not shared.

Good to know: Duet is a test version. Anthropic itself says it may misread a thread or think something is urgent when it is not, and that personal errands such as booking tickets do not work as well yet. It checks your apps every few hours, and it shares usage limits with the rest of Claude, so big tasks use more of your allowance. Duet is only available to Pro and Max customers in the US via a waitlist, and Anthropic has not said when it will come to Sweden or the rest of the Nordics. Similar agents already exist from OpenAI (dots) and Meta (Muse).

How to get started

  1. You do not need to do anything now – Duet is not available in the Nordics yet.
  2. Want to try the idea today? Use the Morning brief prompt in the Prompt Workshop with any chatbot, free versions included.
  3. When agents like Duet arrive here: start small and connect only one or two apps, such as calendar and email.
  4. Always read through a draft or a purchase before you approve it, even if the agent seems confident.
  5. Remove connections you no longer use in the chatbot's settings.
