Gemini gets interactive explorations: zoom from space down to atoms, free for everyone with a Google account
Google has added a library of interactive, visual explorations to the Gemini app. You can follow trade routes along the Silk Road, look inside a jet engine or learn how lightning works, layer by layer. It is free for anyone with a regular Google account, though for now in English for Nordic users. Here is how to find it and use it with your children.
On 28 October 2026 Google launched immersive explorations in the Gemini app. It is a library of visual scenes where every part can be clicked to go deeper, from whole planets down to molecules and atoms. Examples Google shows include the trade routes of the Silk Road, how a jet engine is built and the physics of lightning. Each layer has a short explanation that guides you on.
The feature is available on the web and on mobile for everyone with a personal Google account, and for Google Workspace customers. It costs nothing extra. You find the library at gemini.google.com/immersive-explorations or under Students in the Gemini menu. Google says the explorations will soon open directly in a normal chat, and will soon get narration that talks you through each layer.
The launch languages are English, Indonesian, Hindi, Brazilian Portuguese, French and Simplified Chinese. If you use Gemini in Swedish, Norwegian, Danish or Finnish, you get an English version for now. More languages are coming, but Google has not said when. For most teenagers English is no obstacle, and with younger children you can explore together and explain in your own language.
Good to know: the explorations are made with AI and can contain mistakes, just like ordinary AI answers. Use them to spark curiosity and get an overview, and check important facts in a textbook or another source. If you want the same approach in any AI and in your own language, use our prompt Explain it layer by layer in Promptverkstan. Before a test, try Quiz me before the test.
