ChatGPT Slides: AI that builds the whole slide deck – but only on the pricier plans
OpenAI is rolling out Slides, where ChatGPT turns a chat, files or notes into an editable presentation. It exports to PowerPoint, PDF and Google Slides, but is only available on Pro, Business and Enterprise.
On 16 October 2026 OpenAI began rolling out ChatGPT Slides. You ask ChatGPT in Work mode for a presentation, and it is built from a chat, attached files or an outline. You can also share an existing deck as a model for style and layout.
The deck is saved in Space, OpenAI's shared workspace in ChatGPT. There you edit text, images, shapes and charts yourself or ask ChatGPT to do it. Colleagues can edit at the same time and leave comments, and you can tag ChatGPT in a comment to have text rewritten or a chart updated.
When the deck is ready you can present it straight from ChatGPT. On the web you can export to PowerPoint, PDF or Google Slides. In the desktop app you can open it in PowerPoint or Keynote if those programs are installed.
Who gets it? Slides is rolling out gradually to Pro, Business and Enterprise users with Space access, on the web and in the desktop app. Free, Go and Plus are not included. On Windows computers missing a certain system component, including all Windows 10 machines, the desktop app creates ordinary PowerPoint files instead, so use the web version there.
Our advice: don't buy a pricier plan just for Slides. Free ChatGPT can still write an outline and speaker notes that you drop into PowerPoint or Google Slides in a few minutes.
How to get started
- If you have Business or Pro: ask ChatGPT in Work for "a six-slide presentation about …" and attach your notes.
- Share an old deck as a model so the new one looks like your usual ones.
- Check names, figures and dates before presenting. OpenAI itself advises this.
- Without Slides: use the "Presentation from notes" prompt in the Prompt Workshop and build the slides in PowerPoint or Google Slides.
