TipNotion AI gets cheaper to run – and your ChatGPT subscription now works in Notion
Notion has rebuilt its AI agents and launched Auto, which picks the model for you at roughly a tenth of the cost. A new credit system gives Business and Enterprise 1,500 Standard and 500 Select credits per person per month. Existing customers move over on 2 November.
On 19 October 2026 Notion announced a major update to Notion AI. Notion Agent and Custom Agents now have their own computer and browser and can work on a single task for more than 24 hours, up from five minutes. A new "Review for me" mode lets a separate AI model check that an action is safe before the agent takes it.
The biggest news for your wallet is called Auto. It chooses the model for you: simple requests go to fast, cheap models and harder tasks to stronger ones. In Notion's own tests across more than 20 common tasks, Auto delivered similar results to the top models Claude Opus 5.5 and GPT-6 Astra at about 90% lower average cost. According to Notion, credits therefore go about ten times further.
There is also a new credit system. Every Business and Enterprise seat gets 1,500 Standard credits per month (when Notion picks the model) and 500 Select credits (when you pick the model yourself or run your own agents). If you need more, an admin buys extra credits. The system applies to new customers from 19 October. Existing customers move over on 2 November and will get an email. According to Notion's pricing page, Business costs $20 per member per month, and Custom Agents cost $10 per 1,000 credits after the free trial.
If you already pay for ChatGPT Plus, Pro or Go, you can connect the subscription to your personal Notion Agent and use it instead of Notion credits. It does not work for Custom Agents yet. Enterprise customers can also test using their own API key (private alpha).
Our advice: if you already have Notion Business, leave Auto as the default and only pick a model yourself when you really need to. Your credits will last longer. If you don't use Notion, there is no reason to switch tools for this.
How to get started
- Admins: read Notion's email about the new credit system before 2 November and check who runs their own agents. They use Select credits.
- Use Auto for everyday work such as summarising meeting notes and writing drafts.
- If you have ChatGPT Plus, Pro or Go: connect it to your personal Notion Agent so you don't pay for AI twice.
- Never let an agent send, pay for or delete anything without your approval. Turn on "Review for me" where available.
